Humberto Junca se mueve entre el dibujo, el bricolaje (el uso desviado de objetos y medios) y la escritura, en un constante interés por cuestionar los parámetros preestablecidos de lo que se considera artístico. Junca se siente cómodo realizando cosas que un artista, se supone, no debe hacer: bordar, escribir palabras con blue jeans usados, llenar una galería con bolas de discoteca, rayar pupitres o copiar obsesivamente las ilustraciones de una cartilla infantil. Su obra, de factura delicada y cuidadosa, cuestiona cómo hemos sido educados, cómo hemos adquirido nuestros gustos estéticos y nuestra ética: por qué pensamos que lo bello es bello, que lo bueno es bueno y ¿qué pasaría si estamos equivocados?.
Humberto Junca moves between drawing, bricolage (the diverted use of objects and media), and writing, constantly interested in questioning the pre-established parameters of what is considered artistic. Junca feels comfortable doing things that an artist is not supposed to do: embroidering, writing words with used blue jeans, filling a gallery with disco balls, scratching school desks, or obsessively copying illustrations from a children's textbook. His delicate and carefully crafted work questions how we have been educated, how we have acquired our aesthetic tastes and our ethics: why we think that beautiful is beautiful, that good is good, and what would happen if we are wrong?
