“Mis pinturas nacen de la deriva, del hacer sin un plan, nacen de un lugar profundo y secreto dentro de mí. Hace ya un tiempo que relaciono la pintura con el sueño, con el subconsciente y, como muy bien dijo Philip Guston, “La pintura es un sueño con los ojos abiertos”. A través de la pintura exploro eso que duerme dentro de mí, al poner capa tras capa de óleo excavo el lienzo para llegar a lo interior. 

Cuando pinto, estoy buscando un misterio, un secreto o una atmósfera; busco eso que se esconde bajo la superficie. Me interesa que el espectador sienta o intuya una carga en la pintura, una tensión latente en el cuadro. A través de personajes inquietantes, busco confrontar al espectador con lo extraño, lo ajeno, lo fuera de lo cotidiano; busco escudriñar eso que cada uno tiene por dentro, agitarlo, despertarlo, volverlo consciente; busco visiones que solo se encuentran en nuestro interior”.

“My paintings are born from drifting, from doing without a plan; they are born from a deep and secret place within me. For some time now, I have associated painting with dreams, with the subconscious, and, as Philip Guston so aptly said, “Painting is a dream with open eyes.” Through painting, I explore what lies dormant within me; by applying layer upon layer of oil paint, I excavate the canvas to reach the interior.

When I paint, I am searching for a mystery, a secret, or an atmosphere; I am searching for that which lies hidden beneath the surface. I am interested in the viewer feeling or intuiting a charge in the painting, a latent tension within the painting. Through unsettling characters, I seek to confront the viewer with the strange, the alien, the out of the everyday; I seek to scrutinize that which each of us has within, to stir it, awaken it, make it conscious; I seek visions that are only found within us.”
