She began her training in the medium just as we all do: at birth, when she interacts with the world, when she moves her foot among the leaves and leaves a trace. She trained with her mentor, Maria Nelly Rojas, with whom she spent years working in her studio in exchange for classes in art history and painting.

She has completed three diplomas: "Thinking from Art" and "Art and Feminisms" from the Ministry of Culture, and "Art, Sexuality, and Culture" from the University of Los Andes.

Thanks to her multifaceted training, Tikal has dedicated herself to producing her work and collaborating with other artists, participating in numerous group exhibitions. Working between the countryside and the city, she connects with whatever allows her to create, using organic elements such as paint and waste or found objects as support. She opens herself to nature and the material world broadly, exploring and learning from it.
