SKETCH presenta por primera vez en Colombia "Nydia" una exposición individual de Juan Betancurth. Llevando al límite las barreras de la percepción y permitiendo que el espectador se sumerja en su mundo lúdico, ingresa al inconsciente colectivo desdibujando todas las ideas relacionadas con la jerarquía, el poder, el erotismo, el género y la norma.

Queriendo rendir homenaje al lugar inherente que tiene en la sociedad la figura maternal/ femenina encontrará un compendio de íntimas polaroids de Nydia (madre de Juan) quien retratada por Benjamin Fredickson en el 2012, interactúa y juega con esculturas que han sido fabricadas para la ocasión y las cuales son transformadas en artilugios disciplinarios, juguetes eróticos u objetos domésticos.

SKETCH presents for the first time in Colombia “Nydia” a solo show by Juan Betancurth. Pushing the barriers of perception and allowing the viewer to immerse in his playful world, he enters into the collective unconscious blurring all ideas related to hierarchy, power, eroticism, gender and norm. In this solo show you will find a compendium of intimate polaroids taken back in 2012 in his native Manizales.

Wanting to pay an homage to the inherent place in society the female and motherly figure has, he collaborated remotely from New York with Benjamin Fredickson and his mother Nydia, to interact with `household like ́ sculptures he produced for the occasion, allowing them to be transformed into disciplinarian gadgets, erotic toys or utilitarian objects.

Por otro lado y respondiendo a las necesidades actuales SKETCH propone para la plataforma virtual de ARTBO | Temporada mostrar obra de artistas afines a su programa y con quienes continua construyendo fuertes lazos de trabajo. Muchos de ellos ponen en evidencia con su trabajo problemáticas sociales tan importantes como el calentamiento global, la igualdad de género, la extinción masiva de especies y la exploración de las estructuras formales del lenguaje, entre muchos otros temas.

On the other hand and responding to current needs, SKETCH proposes for the virtual platform of ARTBO | Temporada artists who relate to our program and with whom we continue building strong working ties. Many of them highlight with their work important social problems such as global warming, gender equality, the mass extinction of species and the exploration of the formal structures of language among many other topics.
